The Maasai Mara is home to the world's densest concentration of lion, the fastest land animal (cheetah), and the iconic Great Migration between July and October. The Serengeti adds wildebeest calving, extraordinary predator density and the timeless landscape that inspired the word 'safari'. Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — a collapsed volcanic caldera hosting all Big Five within a 260km² bowl.
All game drives are conducted in custom 4x4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs and expert naturalist guides holding Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association (KPSGA) and Tanzanian guide certifications.
Arrive at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Met by your guide and transferred to a Nairobi hotel. Evening briefing on your ten-day journey ahead.
After breakfast, depart Nairobi heading southwest through the Great Rift Valley — dramatic escarpment views and roadside Maasai settlements mark the way. Arrive at your Mara lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive across the golden plains.
A full day in the Mara — morning and afternoon game drives with your expert Maasai guide. The Mara is famous for its lion prides, and the resident Marsh Pride has been studied for decades. Cheetah sightings are common on the open plains. A midday bush picnic is served in the field.
Morning game drive followed by a cultural visit to a traditional Maasai village — meet the warriors, see the cattle bomas and learn about one of Africa's most iconic cultures. Afternoon free for a final Mara game drive.
Today you cross into Tanzania at the Isebania/Sirari border — your guide handles all formalities. Enter the Serengeti National Park through the northern Kogatende gate. Begin your Serengeti experience with a game drive en route to your lodge as the landscape opens into the endless plains that inspired the name 'Serengeti' — Maasai for "endless plain".
The Serengeti's Central Serengeti (Seronera region) is the year-round heart of wildlife activity — one of the highest concentrations of predators anywhere on earth. Your naturalist guide knows the resident lion prides, cheetah families and leopard territories. Full day with a picnic lunch in the field.
Morning drive through the Serengeti, then wind up through the Ngorongoro highlands with their montane forest and spectacular views. Check in to your crater-rim lodge — perched 2,400m above sea level overlooking the world's largest intact caldera. Spectacular sundowner from the rim.
Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater — one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on earth. The 260km² caldera holds an estimated 30,000 animals including all Big Five. Black rhino are regularly seen here — one of the best places in Africa to encounter them. Hippo pools, flamingos and lion are guaranteed. A full day on the crater floor with a packed picnic lunch.
Morning at leisure on the crater rim — take a stroll in the highland forest or simply sit and absorb the view. Mid-morning drive down to Arusha — Tanzania's safari capital — arriving for lunch. Afternoon free to explore the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre or relax at your hotel. Farewell dinner at a top Arusha restaurant.
